Free Radical Physiology:
Free radicals are a normal byproduct of metabolism. In a healthy body, free radicals are neutralized and eliminated before damage can occur. The body uses antioxidants to neutralize free radicals. Antioxidants are manufactured by a properly nourished body, and also are obtained from a healthy diet.
Free Radical Pathology:
When the body does not get an adequate amount of antioxidants from food, there becomes an accumulation of free radicals. Additional exposure to toxins (from food, water, air, medication, computer and TV screen radiation, microwaves, electro-magnetic pollution, and stress) further increases the production of free radicals, greatly accelerating the aging process. Of particular significance is that free radical damage accumulates with age.
